Brook End is the perfect getaway for a couple who want peace and quiet.
It is an exquisite; south-facing, 300 year old, stone built, Grade II listed, 2-storey cottage, situated beside Dale beach in the heart of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
Its location is superb, placed as it is just over three miles from the embarkation point to the unique bird islands of Skomer and Skokholm. It is also within easy reach of the Georgian splendour of Tenby to the south and the smallest Cathedral City of St Davids to the north.
There are sea views from every room, and you can sit up in bed and see the sea and beach through two windows, from which rare birds [ such as chough, peregrines and divers ] have been spotted, and even the occasional seal. Sleep comes easily, helped by the gentle sound of lapping waves and the top quality, comfortable bed, which can be a super-king-size double or 3′ twins. The cottage is furnished to a high standard and beautifully decorated with traditional, soft, warm shades.
There are fitted carpets throughout, night-storage heaters, three fan heaters, electric blankets and a large ingle-nook fireplace with an electric log burner – all designed to help keep you warm and cosy whatever the weather. No detail for your comfort is overlooked, from the carefully planned lighting to the immaculate cleanliness. Bed linen, bathroom towels and fresh flowers are all provided.
The cottage has a 4 star grading from Visit Wales and the owners, John and Caroline Potter, live in the attached house and are on hand to help with local knowledge and itineraries. The coast path runs along the road past the cottage, and a superb cliff path walk around the Dale peninsula [ 7 miles ] can be undertaken from the front door.
There is a sunny terrace full of scented flowers in the summer, garden furniture and an adjacent conservatory. Maps of the National Park and lots of other information are also provided. The village pub and Yacht Club bar are just a short walk away. For those interested in activities on the water, a reputable sailing and wind surfing school is based a few hundred yards away, and Dale bay is very sheltered.
Brook End is a perfect place for walkers, wind surfers, bird watchers, cyclists, explorers and sun worshippers.
