Skomer Island
One of the most famous wildlife destinations in Wales, Skomer Island is just a short boat trip from the nearby village of Martin’s Haven. The island is internationally recognised for its incredible seabird colonies and is one of the best places in the UK to see puffins up close.
Every spring and summer, thousands of Atlantic puffins return to the island to breed, creating one of the most spectacular wildlife experiences in Britain. Visitors can walk the island’s network of paths while observing puffins nesting in burrows just a few metres away.
Alongside puffins, Skomer is home to a variety of other seabirds including razorbills, guillemots, and Manx shearwaters. The island is managed as a protected nature reserve and offers an unforgettable experience for birdwatchers, photographers, and nature lovers visiting Pembrokeshire.
